WorkLink is funded through the 1998 Workforce Investment Act (WIA),
of the federal government. The WIA reformed previous workforce systems
and is intended to help Americans access the tools needed to manage their
careers through information and high-quality services. In addition, the
WIA is designed to help U.S. companies find skilled workers.
At the local Pendleton District (Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties)
level, the Board has defined the following goals to help market the programs
and services of WorkLink:
1. Increase awareness, credibility and effectiveness of the organization
to several audiences, internal and external.
2. Create a clear, compelling message positioning WorkLink to its key
audiences.
3. Develop partnerships with educators, school boards, local elected officials
and economic developers to achieve goal number one.
4. Connect employees to companies.
